AASRA Code of Ethics

Acceptance of the Code of Ethics is a condition of AASRA membership at every level. Breaches may lead to investigation, suspension or revocation.

Honest and accurate information

Members provide truthful information about institutions, programmes, costs, admission requirements, visas and outcomes, and never misrepresent their status or partnerships.

Students' best interests

Advice is based on the student's academic profile, goals and circumstances, never solely on commission or commercial advantage.

Transparent fees and refunds

All fees charged to students are disclosed in writing before any payment, together with a clear refund policy.

Integrity of documents

Members never produce, alter or submit falsified academic, financial or identity documents, and report suspected fraud.

Student protection and welfare

Members maintain procedures for pre-departure information, safeguarding and support for students in difficulty.

Data protection and privacy

Personal data is collected lawfully, stored securely, used only for stated purposes and never sold.

Professional competence

Counsellors are trained, supervised and kept current on destination, visa and institutional requirements.

Complaints and accountability

Members operate a documented complaints procedure and cooperate fully with AASRA investigations.

Fair use of AASRA marks

Seals, certificates and titles are used only at the level currently held, and withdrawn immediately upon suspension or expiry.

Enforcement

Complaints and disciplinary process

Complaints against a member are reviewed by AASRA and may be escalated to the Accreditation & Ethics Commission. Complaints are never published unless officially determined and approved.
